(ON EXHIBIT AT THE HOLOCAUST MUSEUM OF PITTSBURGH, PA)

ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

The story of Anne Frank is known throughout the world. The image of Anne wearing the yellow star is the reality of her life before she was forced into hiding with her family.  With Anne, we have a face that can be singularly identified as the symbol for all of the millions who died.

INTERPRETATION:

The star became such a powerful part of her life that it took control of it.  Eventually it was the only thing left of her.
