| Back to Home | The
Lois Kaplan Charitable Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse has
partnered with Family Resources and Jewish Family & Children's
Service
of Pittsburgh. The Foundation has made grants to fund the joint
venture's "WARMLINE"
project. With our help, the project
came to fruition in 1997, and has been reknowned as an overwhelmng
success. Since 2004, the Foundation has consistently made a
contribution to Family
Resources' Child
Abuse Prevention Month Awards Benefit to recognize those who have given
so much over years to help in the fight against child
abuse.
We requested that a special poem
(please click here to read) be included in the program for the
evening. Additionally, this link will lead to the 2010 Family Resources
message
on child abuse prevention.
Family Resources and Jewish Family & Children's Service of Pittsburgh are both United Way organizations that focus on the many aspects of family development and relationships. Family Resources was formed in 1986 through a merger of two organizations: The Pittsburgh Association for the Improvement of the Poor and the Child Abuse Prevention Center. Family Resources provides a comprehensive set of services to prevent child abuse and overcome the damaging effects on its victims. Their mission is to prevent and treat child abuse and overcome the damaging effects on its victims. Their focus is on four specific areas:
Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO) is a South Florida based non-profit organization specializing in primarily foster care for children from broken families. JAFCO's goal is to reunite families through parent and child counseling and foster care. The Foundation made its first grant to this wonderful organization in 2004 and continued to make contributions in 2005 to fund special projects including a Chanukkah party complete with snow, a magician, food and lots of smiles. The Children's Place at Home Safe is a safe haven for the care and treatment of abused, abandoned, neglected, drug exposed and HIV/AIDS infected and affected infants and children. Their goal is to protect and nurture children and their families. In 2002, two of the Foundation's trustees began volunteering at The Children's Place at Home Safe Boca Raton shelter. It was clear that this organization loved children and needed funding to expand the shelter. The Foundation made a contribution in late 2002 to Children's Place to assist in growing the location and helping more children in need. |
